Leiria. Bas-relief of Saint Francis (Painel S. Francisco e Pedras de Armas)

The panel with the image of Saint Francis was made by an unknown artist in the 17th century.

Originally, the bas-relief decorated the facade of the city hall, located on the site of the current Plaza Rodriguez Lobo.

It seems that the side medallions have a different origin - they depict a multi-faceted two-tiered tower, which does not look like the castle from the coat of arms of the city.
